Emma's Search for Something
Published in School & Library Binding by Atheneum (September, 1973)
Authors: Mary Anderson and Peter Parnall
Average review score:

A very sweet book for kids and their parents
I read this as a child and adored it. It offers a wonderful view of New York City and a fascinating history of pigeons as well! Like Charlotte's Web, it offers a touching story involving anthropomorphized animals, without being too cutesy. Check out Freddie The CAt! He's a riot! Highly recommended.

Encyclopedia of Games

Author: Doris Anderson

It's a fun-maker!
We played many of these games when I was a child (my mother is the author) and now that I am grown, I find myself turning to this book for ideas over and over again. A gal at my church just used this book to find an appropriate ice breaker for a gathering of about 30 people. If you want to have fun, there's something in this game book for you.

The enemy stars
Published in Paperback by Berkley Publishing Co (1979)
Author: Poul Anderson
Average review score:

We Have Fed Our Seas
The Enemy Stars is Poul Anderson at his best except for the title. When it first appeared in Astounding Magazine, the title was We Have Fed Our Seas. It's a quote from Kipling that will make your hair stand on end when you read it in the context of the story. I can't explain it here without spoiling the plot for the quote gives the theme. Briefly, the story begins by introducing four men from utterly different backgrounds who are going to spend a few weeks doing research manning a space ship. The idea here is utterly fascinating. The space ship carries a matter transmitter that lets people move easily into space. People come and go routinely--and then something goes horribly wrong. The rest of the novel is the four men struggling to cope and find a way out of a hopeless situation.

Ensign Flandry

Author: Poul Anderson

Good Books are Timeless
This is the first book of the Poul Anderson series, "Flandry, Agent of Imperial Terra" and it was published in the mid-sixties. I say this up front because the book, story and characters live outside the copyright date and achieve that timeless quality you expect from authurs like Asimov, Burroughs and of course Poul Anderson. Flandry is just an ensign when we meet him in this story and at first, he doesn't even feel like the staring character. As the story unfolds, we expect more and more from our young ensign until the fate of Terra and other worlds hang on his every decision. Don't get me wrong, he's not made Emporer by books end. Through and through, he is just an ensign who plays the cards that are dealt him. It is said that great events make great men and we see Ensign Flandry take on a captivating shape. I haven't read the next books in the series, but have high hopes for the Long Night of the Terran Empire.

Essential C: An Introduction for Scientists & Engineers
Published in Paperback by International Thomson Publishing (June, 1997)
Authors: Paul K. Andersen, G. Bjedov, M. G. Scarbrough, and P. K. Anderson
Average review score:

The best fundamental C programming book I have read.
This is, by far, the best book for the beginning programmer. The prose is clear and intelligent. The example problems and the exercise problems are interesting.

If you are looking for a programming book for the first time, or if you wish you had picked up a good programming book the first time around, then this book is for you.

Essentials of Athletic Training
Published in Paperback by Mosby (January, 1991)
Authors: Marcia K. Anderson and Daniel D. Arnheim
Average review score:

The Bible for Athletic Trainers and Coaches...
As a coach, it's very important to know what to do in the event an athlete gets hurt. Since there aren't enough Trainers to go around, I decided to learn as much as I could about acute athletic care. Several Physical Therapists and Athletic Trainers recommended this book to me, and I must say, it's every bit as helpful as they said it would be. It gives step-by-step instructions, excellent diagrams, and great prevention tips since it is, technically, a textbook. The only thing more helpful than this book on the sidelines or in the dugouts is MAYBE an ice-pack. Every coach should read this book, study this book, and keep this book close by during practice and game-time. I highly recommend it.

Ever Lovin' Marmaduke
Published in Paperback by Tor Books (August, 1990)
Author: Brad Anderson
Average review score:

This is one big book.
As befits one big dog! The slap-pawed, slobber-jawed Marmaduke has been entertaining us for 40 years with the same joke, and that's saying a lot in this day and age. While many so-called "funnies" have resorted to sexual innuendo, drug use, and sensationalistic topical humor, we can always count on Marmaduke to humor us with his size. Oh, that and his ever-present bone.

A must for police leaders
This book is a great tool for police leaders to use in the development of their skills. EVryone should have one on their office bookshelf.
